School Board Petition Drive

As some of you may have heard, there is an effort underway throughout the county to petition the recently passed school board selection bill (HB 1114) onto the 2008 ballot. This effort, led by many of our county elected officials and supported by a rapidly growing number of activists, is gathering signatures so that the voters have a say in how we pick the members of our school board.

Our voice, as citizens, as parents, as taxpayers has been silenced by this legislation and it is vital that we gather the necessary signatures to give WE THE PEOPLE control over how our county school board is selected.

We would urge you to visit our website, http://www.voteonschoolboard.com to get more information, download the petition and instructions and get more information on how you can help.

This weekend, we will begin our formal efforts to collect signatures as dozens of dedicated volunteers will be out at events and going door to door in their own neighborhoods to collect signatures.

We need your help!

Please email me at greg@voteonschoolboard.com or call 410-986-0844 and let us know how you can help. We will put you in touch with coordinators in your area, give you all the tools you need and equip you to help us succeed in this effort.

Also, please sign the petition, have the registered voters in your family sign it and get your friends, neighbors as well as your fellow church and club members to sign.

Together we can defeat those in Annapolis who want to silence our voices!

"What have I done that you would disrespect me so"

The words of Vito Corleone (paraphrase) in the Godfather. Now I know how he feels. After spending over $1000 (don't tell my wife) to support our Lincoln Day Dinner and paying extra for a full page ad in the program to promote our podcasts, the ad never appeared. And this was after a number of emails and personal conversations with the organizers and Chairman Mike Collins to assure that everything was okay.

After counting to ten, here is the email I sent to our central committee:

"I wanted to bring to your attention that the ad I purchased (actually paid extra to upgrade to a full page) was not in the LRDD program. This was especially distressing since I had a conversation with Mike [Collins] a week ago and asked specifically about that ad and was told everything was okay.

I expect a refund."

After years of service to the central committee and the personal friendships I made you would think a sincere apology and some statement of chagrin would be forthcoming. Not so much it turns out. Here is Chairman Collins' response:

"Greg,

No problem. Sorry for any oversight.

Thanks for coming to the event. I think it went well.

Yours,
Mike"

Wow, I feel much better now.

Is this how our county treats its supporters or is it just me?

The ad you didn't see

For some yet to be explained reason, our ad was deleted from the Lincoln Reagan Day Dinner Program despite the show's generous sponsorship of the event.

More to come on that but I wanted to share the ad with you and thank Brian Griffiths for his hard work on it.

In our opening segment, I share a fantastic piece from a local anti-tax leader sounding the call to conservatives to support (and correct) conservative, Republican officials and to work harder to carry the pro-market, less government message to the electorate. This is a message we all need to hear.
